At one point in my life, after a decade of work in a business environment, I started taking studio art classes. I guess corporate life made me restless! So I had come to a point where it was necessary to completely change course. In college I had minored in studio arts so this was familiar territory. In those years I did ceramics and photography. But this time around I tried my hand at jewelry making. I took jewelry making classes in DC with Daniel Valencia and never looked back! Working with precious metals and gemstones became an instant passion. I did workshops with other metal smiths such as, Michael David Sturlin and Alex Boyd. I also take classes with Abby Goldblatt, an accomplished enamellist and well known artist.
I am grounded in the traditional methods of metal smiths. Sketching a preconceived design is not my style. Instead, my process begins by working directly with metal. I find inspiration in nature and ancient cultures with old world processes. I aspire to create heirlooms with a contemporary feel that will be loved by the wearer. And, I hope to pass along the positive energy I feel while crafting each piece.
